THE PARTY CHIVA

THE PARTY CHIVA

To Panamanians a chiva is a festively-decorated old bus of the sort that used to be the main mode of public transport, but times and concepts change and now the chiva has come to mean "The Party Bus." It's the best way to sample the metro area's most beautiful night-time attractions. We'll travel on a bus that's decorated in Panama's inimitable style and fully equipped for partying, which will be non-stop on this night.

The trip begins at 8:00 p.m. with a visit to Mi Pueblito, a replica of a colonial-era country village. From there we go to the Pedro Miguel Locks, the second set of Pacific-side canal locks. Then our tour takes us to the Amador Causeway, a breakwall built for the canal that has since become an important city recreational asset. From that vantage point you'll be able to see Panama City's night-time skyline, Panama Bay and other attractions. After that we'll cross the Bridge of the Americas and stop at the lookout, a favorite stop for lovers and kids of all ages.

Included in the tour are all beverages (rum and seco, Panama's local favorites), Panamanian-style hors d'oeuvres and entertainment by a local band playing traditional Panamanian music. We'll return at 11:30 p.m. to your original starting point, usually your hotel.

DURATION: 3½ Hrs.
