Bocas del Toro
Bocas Del Toro's Isla Colon is located in the Northwestern corner of the Republic of Panama. Discovered by Christopher Columbus in 1502 on his fourth and last voyage. Bocas as it is commonly called, is a land of many cultures but typically caribbean. It is a geologically diverse land with mountainous terrain, numerous cays and islands, rain forest, and marine and bird sanctuaries. Bocas del Toro Province's greatest attraction is its rich marine life featuring spectacular coral reefs and warm crystal clear waters that are a paradise for divers. Coral island, used by divers and snorkelers in their inmerssions, is a shallow nut with beautiful coral formations. There, between the surface and 20 feet deep, you will enjoy coral isletes os staghom, elkhom, brain and star corals and gorgonians. Other animals of the underwater world, can be observed on the coral reef: sponges, sea cucumbers, urchins and a variety of fish species, while in the crevices are hidden lobsters, crabs, morey eels and an infinite number of different tiny sea invertebrates. Bocas del Toro has two national parks: Bastimentos Island Marine Park and the International Friendship Park, Administered Jointly by Panama and Costa Rica. The Panamanian Sector of this Park (207,000 Hectares) is being designated as a "World Heritage Site" and a "Biosphere Reserve". Accomodations for divers are set on an individual basis, in a manner best suited to their individual requirements and desire.
