THE CHAGRES CHALLENGE
We will leave early in thWe will leave early in the morning and drive to a remote village called San Cristobal, past Cerro Azul, 45 minutes from the city in auto. After a light breakfast, the trip continues for 90 minutes, climbing a narrow road and pushing deep into the jungle to a Chagres River tributary called Rio Piedras. The Chagres Challenge is one of the toughest tests for visitors and citizens, so you should be in good physical shape for this all-day adventure. Before telling you that we'll all survive it, we'll remind you not to forget to wear a bathing suit, sneakers or light shoes with good soles, a hat and a jacket or long-sleeved cotton shirt for the sun, a towel and extra dry clothes. About 11 in the morning we'll start to travel downriver to the Chagres. We'll stop there for some light refreshment, as the adrenaline will be flowing 100 percent. You should know that for this wild experience, our guides are specially trained (and certified in first aid and CPR). The adventure that you'll experience here can't be defined in words. You'll have to live it to know how this unforgettable expedition feels. After a tasty snack, we'll get back in the raft and head for Madden Lake, where we'll arrive at 4:30 pm. Once there, we'll board a motorboat for a 30 minute ride to the nearest road for our return to Panama City. DURATION: Full day. EQUIREMENTS: Good physical condition. WHAT TO BRING: A swimsuit or a pair of shorts for navigating, sneakers, light boots with good soles, a cap, a towel, and an extra set of dry clothes.
