Before leaving, we suggest the following attire: shorts, sneakers or deck shoes, mosquito repellant and sunscreen lotion. Departure from Panama is 5:30 a.m. for the town of Gamboa, the Panama Canal's mid-point. From there we'll travel in by equipped with fishing tackle, an ice chest, drinks, sandwiches and lunch?all set for a pleasant Day.

Gatun Lake's fresh waters, along a shipping route set amid forest reserves, just about guarantees you good fishing. The diverse species commonly caught here include snook, peacock bass and bluegills, among others. Among the fauna, watch for manatees, caymen, howler monkeys and an unlimited abundance of water birds.
