BOQUETE'S COFFEE PLANTATIONS AND PROCESSING PLANTS-CHIRIQUI
We will take a picturesque road to the curious town of Boquete, which in the old days was a colony of Americans and Europeans gold miners on their way to California but along the route fell in love with the beauty and cool climate of this rainbow valley. Boquete is famous for the excellent coffee grown in the surrounding mountains. Only hard beans are used, each with a superb Boquet. Only the best coffee is exported to the United States and Europe. On the outskirts of the town, we'll begin to climb the foothills of the Baru volcano. Here the going changes from little canyons to mountains dotted with rows of coffee trees, giving the appearance of a caffeine embraced around the volcano. We'll visit the Lerida Farm to see indigenous Ngobe families filling baskets attached to their belts with red beans that they pick from the coffee trees. At the El Beneficio plant, a guide will explain the six processing steps through which coffee must pass to be ready for human consumption.
