GENERAL INFORMATION:
For about three hours, you have the opportunity to vist three of Panama's wildest and most exotic national parks. It starts with a 15-minute auto ride from the city, accompanied by a tour guide whose knowledge of all the species that you may encounter will bring this unforgettable tour to life. * METROPOLITAN NATURE PARK: This is one of the few wild parks within a metropolitan area in Latin America. It offers an environmental education center with rooms for meetings and audiovisual presentations, a store where you can buy books and conservationist paraphernalia, an orchid house and a nature trail. The trail goes through ecological niches that are home to some 200 species of birds, monkeys, reptiles and other animals. The Smithsonian does research here, setting up canopy observation platforms and conducting ecological studies designed to help preserve the parks rain forest eco-systems. * LAS CRUCES TRAIL NATIONAL PARK: This represents a forested ecological corridor between Metropolitan Nature Park and Soberania National Park, and also the historic Las Cruces Trail. Within you can appreciate a great variety of flora and fauna, beautiful waterfalls and endangered species * SOBERANIA NATIONAL PARK: This has a nature trail called "el Charco de Gamboa," a birdwatching path along the Pipeline Road. Located next to the Panama Canal, it's one of Central America's most-visited tropical forests. That's due to the world record 400 bird species that the Audubon Society has noted here. Among the rich fauna will be found the gato solos, wild pigs and white-tailed deer. The flora include a great variety of liana vines, epiphytes, indio desnudo and lignum vitae.
